On Thursday night Ponyboy Curtis had got in a fight with his older brother Darryl. Ponyboy was really upset so he ran away from home. He went to look for Johnny and told him they were going to run away. They were just planning on spending the night at the park. When some drunk Socs appeared, Ponyboy and Johnny had noticed they were the boyfriends of the girls they had gone to the movies with. There was about four or five of them. Ponyboy and Johnny had started running. Three of the Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy in the fountain. Johnny had got really scared. He always carried around a pocket knife ever since the Socs jumped him. So he stabbed one of the Socs that were drowning Ponyboy. Later on when Ponyboy woke up Johnny was crying. Ponyboy had noticed the big puddle f blood near the fountain. And he told Ponyboy what had happened. Johnny had killed one of the Socs. Neither Ponyboy or Johnny knew what to do, if they should turn themselves in or run away.
