No Headline Was Given

In Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, October 6, 1967 a sad incident happened. Dallas Winston was shot by a police officer. What was told to the officers by Ponyboy Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Darryl Curtis, and a few more of their friends was that earlier that night, one of their best friends, Johnny Cade, had passed away. They were all very sad about it, but Dallas just couldn't take it and went almost crazy.

The first thing Dallas did after his friend Johnny died was rob a store. The man working at the store said he was acting weird while looking at a magazine and then he ripped the magazine in half. The man working told him he'd have to pay for it, but Dallas didn't answer. After that he all of a sudden walked up to the cashier counter, pulled out a gun, and said to give him all the money. The helpless man working had no other choice but to give it to him, so he did. But of course the man called the cops, and that's when Dallas started running. It was reported that he made a phone call on a payphone to the Curtis' home. After the call he ran towards the park, where the cops found him. The cops kept telling Dallas to stop, but he wouldn't. They chose to shoot him because they thought he was a threat. Around that time was when the Curtis brothers and a few of their other friends started running towards the cops and Dallas and yelling, "Stop, Stop!" After the first shot, Dallas was still up and walking, after the second, he fell, but he was still crawling. But, when his friends finally got to him, he died.

The poor friends of Dallas Winston have to live with the fact that two of their good friends have passed. We wish them well, and hope they'll get through.
